Houseplants aren’t as difficult as having a big vegetable garden or fancy outdoor landscaping, but it is still gardening. If you want to start a garden with houseplants, there are a few quick things to learn.
Choose the Right Plants
Houseplants tend to be varieties of plants that are more resilient and can survive fairly easily indoors. They don’t always need as much sun and are easy to take care of. You can grow just about anything inside, within reason, but if you want your garden to stay attractive all year long with minimal effort, look for plants that are characterized as houseplants. Aloe vera or citrus trees like lemon and lime dwarf trees make great houseplants.
Find Attractive Pots
Anything that sits in your home stagnant should add some value to your home and add to its appeal, and that includes the pots your plants are in. Look for beautiful designed ceramic garden pots or pottery pots. It doesn’t need to be super fancy or over the top, but I don’t recommend leaving it in the cheap, dirty plastic containers plants come in from the nursery. Also, make sure it’s sufficient in size to help your plants grow. Most plants need to be transplanted into a larger container.
Get Them Started Off Right
If you’re plants don’t have proper soil with enough nutrients and a way to drain out excess water from the soil, they won’t be able to thrive nearly as easily. Make sure the pots have an easy draining system, and use good potting soil. Add some organic fertilizer if you think it needs it, but be careful not to add too much because it can damage or kill the plant if it’s over-fertilized.
Take Care of the Houseplants
Houseplants are pretty easy to take care of, but they can die of you don’t water them and make sure they get enough sun. Take good care of them and they’ll look good for you and your guests all year round.
