A Few Ideas For Decorating Your Master Bedroom

When decorating your master bedroom, remember that you will be spending at least a little time gazing at the walls and around the room. It will also be the first thing you see upon waking, so why not decorate it in a style that pleases both you and your partner. These days, there are so many creative ways to spruce up a room, while staying within a budget. You can completely transform a ‘blank canvas’ room or outdated decor with just a few key elements.

Fresh paint is probably the biggest bang for your buck, and the most dramatic change when decorating your master bedroom. It is the base for everything you decide to add to it, and the background for whichever theme or color scheme you choose. Remember that darker colors can make a room feel small, so if you decide on a very bright or bold color, consider featuring it on just one wall, or two opposing walls. Then choose either neutral or complementing colors to offset the accent wall or walls. Alternatively, placing a bold color on window trims or molding is an excellent way to introduce a splash of color if a whole wall seems to be too much. One of the interior decorating ideas that I usually incorporate into any of my room revamps is deciding on the color palette ahead of time.  Take a color from your comforter or from an area rug that is in your master bedroom and use that color on the wall.  Try and keep it a neutral color so if you change your bed linens etc. the color will more than likely still work with your new decor.

Bedding is another focal point, and something you can really have fun with. Style can look expensive without actually being so. Consider a French Country look with a handmade quilt and several accent pillows of varying sizes to tie your look together. Or complete a theme with a matching set that includes a dust ruffle, pillow shams and perhaps a window treatment. Whatever you decide on your bedding, it should be comforting and inviting as well as functional. Personally I love high thread count sheets for my California King Bed.

Lastly, choose bedroom furniture that has plenty of space saving storage, so everything will have its place. Your master bedroom should be a room where you can relax, and clutter does not promote relaxation. As a finishing touch, try placing a few lightly scented candles in proper holders around the room, candlelight will produce a degree of charm and simple elegance while giving your master bedroom an air of romance.
